As part of the fight against insurgency, a team comprising Udalguri Police and Army conducted a joint operation in Orang area under Udalguri district and were able to apprehend two suspected members of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S), who worked as over-ground workers for the outfit.
As per information, the suspected NDFB-S members were apprehended from a passenger bus at Orang on Friday.
The suspected NDFB-S members have been identified as Dharmik Narzary and Pradip Daimari, who hail from Biswanath Charali and Dhekiajuli respectively.
They have been booked vide Orang PS case No 27/18 under relevant sections of IPC.
Both the rebels were produced in the Court of the District and Sessions Judge, Udalguri which sent them to the judicial custody on Saturday.
Sources said have divulged that the rebels were engaged by the outlawed anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland as over-ground workers and they were involved in collection of extortion money from people in various places like Orang, Rowta, Mazbat in Udalguri district and Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district.
It may be mentioned that police and army in a joint operation arrested two suspected NDFB (S) militants from Dhula area in Darrang district on Sunday night.
Police officials said the two suspected militants were arrested by a team of police and Army from Barjhar village in Panbari area under Dhula police station of the district.
Army sources said the two arrested NDFB (S) rebels and an Army official were injured in a scuffle ensued before the rebels being caught.
