Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma convened an emergency meeting with his cabinet and Chief Secretary, Additional CS in-charge Disaster Management and other senior officials on Saturday.
The CM has directed to provide immediate temporary relief to the affected villages. Preliminary report states that over 50 villages in different parts of the State have been affected due to severe hailstorm.
The Government is making assessment on the extent of damages to houses, crops, livestock and other properties.
“The focus of the Government is to provide maximum help to the people. All the concerned departments have been asked to attend to the needs of the people. We are working on war footing to provide temporary relief to the affected villages,” said the Chief Minister.
