The entire state of Tripura was plunged into darkness on Friday evening after a massive storm that lashed the State had snapped the transmission line.
The 132 kv transmission line from NEEPCO’s R C Nagar plant to Kumarghat was snapped due to the severe storm resulting in power cut in the entire Unakoti district.
Though, another 13 kv line from R C Nagar to Rampur near Border Gol Chakkar area has been restored but power distribution to 11 kv line has not been energized as transmission lines got disrupted at many places.
Several areas of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) were plunged into darkness because of disruption in power supply till 8 pm, sources at the Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL).
However, TSECL workers got down to work on a war-footing to restore the disrupted power supply and managed to reinstate the same within a couple of hours.
Meanwhile, neighbouring Bangladesh which usually draws 150 MW power from ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) at Palatana project is now receiving only 15 MW power as the neighbouring country was also hit by a severe storm.
