Assam logs over 8000 COVID cases for second consecutive day, highest single-day tally ever

Assam, for the second consecutive day, has logged over 8000 COVID-19 cases. 

As many as 8339 new COVID-19 cases were detected in Assam on Wednesday. 

This is the highest ever single-day spike in COVID numbers in Assam till date. 

The previous highest was of 8072 cases, which were logged on Tuesday.

Out of the new 8339 COVID-19 cases logged in Assam on Wednesday, 1929 cases were reported from in and around Guwahati city. 

The new cases were detected after conducting tests of 64,699 samples. 

The COVID-19 positivity rate in Assam on Wednesday was recorded at 12.89%. 

Moreover, as many as 15 persons lost their lives to the COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours.
