Wives of mid-ranking officers in the Myanmar military were asked to undergo military training.
As per reports, some officers and their wives have claimed this.

The spouses of captains and majors of the military are being trained at the battalions in Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Region as well as in Taunggyi and Aungban in Shan State.
Their training started on Monday and will take place for two weeks.

During the training, they will be taught the use of small arms and some heavy weapons and basic military tactics.
They will be trained as the forces in Myanmar are experiencing a shortage of human resources following the recent military coup.
The training is for wives of the captain to major ranked officers.
Although the training is for mid-level officers, wives of lieutenant colonels have been excluded as lieutenant colonels are heads of battalions.

The trainees were not given any particular reasons for the training and the only thing they were told by the authorities is that the training is “required”.
