Mizoram reported 518 new COVID-19 cases on Monday- 385 less than the previous day- taking the state’s tally to 1,46,045, a health department official said.

The death toll rose to 561 as three more, including a Myanmar national, have succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours,  he said.

The fresh cases detected from 2,694 sample tests put the single-day positivity rate at 19.23 per cent, he said.

Champhai district reported the highest number of fresh cases at 216, followed by Aizawl(110) and Mamit(108), he said.

The number of active cases now stands at 4,612, while 270 people have recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 1,40,872, the official said.

The recovery rate among COVID-19 patients is 96.45Z per cent and the death rate is 0.38 per cent.

The northeastern state has so far tested 15.40 lakh samples for COVID-19 and out of this 2,694 samples were tested on Sunday.

According to state immunisation officer Dr. Lalzawmi, over 7.46 lakh people, including 13,775 children (15-17 years), have been vaccinated till Saturday.

Of the total 7.46 lakh people, 5.94 lakh have received the full dose, she said.
