Did SP Conference lead to dozens of Assam police officials testing Covid-19 positive?

A least a dozen top officials of Assam police including an ADGP have tested positive for Covid-19 after attending the superintendents of police (SP) conference at upper Assam’s Duliajan.

Assam police special branch ADGP Hiren Nath, DIG central range Satyaraj Hazarika and CID SP CID Pranab Jyoti Goswami have tested positive for the infection, said health officials.

Baksa SP Rajen Singh and Sonitpur counterpart DP Ghanawat have lost infected with the virus, they said. Sadiya SP Mohanlal Meena is also afflicted with the disease, the officials said.

According to officials, several additional superintendent of police (ASP)s also tested positive for the highly infectious virus.

As per reports, all the Covid positive police officials took part in the second edition of the state’s SP conference held recently at oil town Duliajan.

Reports said, most of the doctors are in home isolation, except a few admitted to hospitals for treatment.
