Over 50 COVID-19 positive cases have reportedly been detected at the IIT-Guwahati in Assam since December 30.

According to reports, several cases were also reported from the IIT-Guwahati on Tuesday among residents who have returned to the campus recently.

COVID-19 cases in Assam have been on the rise in recent days with as many as 475 new COVID-19 cases being detected on Tuesday.

Of the fresh 475 cases logged in Assam, 190 have been detected in Guwahati.

Assam’s single-day COVID positivity rate also crossed the 1% mark on Tuesday.

The 475 cases logged on Tuesday in Assam were detected at a positivity rate of 1.29%.

Assam, thus far, has not reported any case of the Omicron variant.

However, a man from Assam has been tested positive for Omicron in Meghalaya.
