Another instance of man-elephant conflict has been reported in Assam and this time, two persons were killed in an elephant invasion in Numaligarh’s Kanighat of Golaghat district.
The incident took place on Sunday night in a paddy feild where the persons were sleeping in a make-shift shelter.
The elephant herd had come into the area in search of food from the forest area.
The herd had come across the make-shift selter and had attacked the people sleeping inside it.
The deceased persons were identified as Akbar Ali and Muhammad Islamuddin.

While Akbar died on the spot, Islam died at the JMCH while being under treatment. Both of them were residents of Hojai’s Lanka. They were engaged in farming activities in the area.
Along with them, six others were also reportedly injured.
On the same night, another incident was reported from Nagaon.

An elderly woman was injured in an attack by a wild elephant in the Uriagoan area of Nonoi.
The woman claimed that the elephant broke the walls of her room and attacked her with its trunk.
However, after she made some noise, the elephant left her and escaped towards the feilds.
