Efforts are underway to complete the construction work of the Hollongi Airport near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh. 

This was stated by union law minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday. 

“All efforts are on to complete the Airport construction at Hollongi by the end of 2022,” Rijiju said. 

He made this statement while informing that Flybig Airlines “has expanded it’s full operations to the frontier state of Arunachal Pradesh connecting Pasighat and Tezu”.

The Greenfield airport at Hollongi near Itanagar in Arunachal Pradesh is expected to get ready before November 2022. 

Earlier in December last year, Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu visited the site of Greenfield airport at Hollongiand took stock of the progress of the construction work. 

The Centre and the Arunachal Pradesh governments are trying to ensure that the airport becomes functional by August 2022. 

Out of the total 2300 metres length of the runway, construction of 1500 metres has been completed.

Spread over an area of 320 hectares, the Greenfield Airport once completed, would be able to accommodate narrow-body jets like the Airbus A321 in the first phase. 

“This is a dream project of the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Arunachal Pradesh CM Pema Khandu had said.
