The central bureau of investigation (CBI) has reportedly taken over probe into the alleged Assam Rifles recruitment scam.
The CBI has registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act.
The alleged recruitment scam took place back in 2019 in Jorhat district of Assam.
Although the Assam police was investigating the case, the state government requested the CBI take over the probe.

FIR relating to the case, allege that some Assam Rifles officials were involved in anomalies during recruitment process.
Moreover, the FIR also states that one Yashwant Kumar from Bihar acted as a ‘middleman’, who brought “aspirants for recruitment at Jorhat during the recruitment rally and deliver bribe money to the officers of the unknown officials of Assam Rifles including doctors of Assam Rifles”.
