North East Cane And Bamboo Development Council proposes Destination Northeast Festival under DoNER
North Eastern Council (NEC) Member Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi visited the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) office in Guwahati.
During the visit, Air Marshal Gogoi had a detailed discussion with Dr. Shailendra Chaudhari, Managing Director, NECBDC and other officers on the development of the bamboo sector.
North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) under the North Eastern Council (NEC), Shillong under the Ministry of DoNER, involves its creativity and resource in talent scouting, training, technology sourcing, market linkage for giving a new age thrust to the age-old bamboo sector.
“Keeping in mind the fast-track changes in the global marketplace, contemporizing the traditional presentational aesthetics of bamboo end products receives our priority,” DoNER Ministry said in a statement.
Dr. Shailendra Chaudhari apprised Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi during his visit to the office of the North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) on the preparation being put in place by NECBDC for the upcoming Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Destination North East Festival.
The festival is proposed to be held from January 15-21, 2022 at Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
The central government has taken a number of measures for the development of the bamboo sector in the Northeast region.
In February this year, DoNER minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurated a bamboo treatment plant at North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC) in Byrnihat near Guwahati.
The plant is based on vacuum-pressure-impregnation technique and is funded by the National Bamboo Mission (NBM) and North Eastern Council (NEC).
The inauguration ceremony was attended by North Eastern Council member Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi, NECBDC managing director Dr Shailendra Chaudhari, NEC advisor (BIT) R Lalrodingi.
Union DoNER minister Singh highly applauded the role played by the NEC, NECBDC and Dr Chaudhari of NECBDC.
