Union minister Bhupender Yadav, on Monday, reviewed the “preservation and upkeep” of the Loktak Lake in Manipur.
Yadav was accompanied by Manipur chief minister Biren Singh and BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra.
The leaders also visited the Keibul Lamjao National Park (KLNP) in Manipur.
Notably, the KLNP in Manipur is home to the Sangai (brow antlered deer).

Speaking during an event after reviewing the condition of the Loktak lake, Yadav said that as a union minister he has taken responsibility to fully implement the integrated management plan for the lake.
Stating about the specialities of the Loktak Lake, the union minister said that it is the largest freshwater lake in entire Northeast.
It is renowned for floating land masses or phumdis, which “cannot be found in other places in the world”.
Union minister Bhupender Yadav added that Loktak is not only a lake but also an important historic landmark of India’s independence struggle.
