Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Manipur in the first week of January to address a BJP rally for the upcoming assembly election in the Northeastern state.

Manipur BJP unit vice president N Nimbus Singh said that BJP national president J P Nadda, who addressed different poll rallies and chaired a party meeting on Friday, will also visit the state on December 30.

“A meeting of our party leaders will be convened to fix the date for the arrival of our honourable PM and the venue for his public address,” TOI quoted Nimbus as saying.

The BJP, which is heading the coalition government in the state, has decided to contest all 60 seats without entering into a pre-poll alliance.

“A meeting of our party leaders will be convened to fix the date for the arrival of our honourable PM and the venue for his public address,” Nimbus added.

He said the first phase of the candidate announcement might cover the current BJP ministers and MLAs.
