Four suspected militants in south Kashmir were killed in two separate encounters on Saturday.
The encounters took place at Shopian and Tral and were executed by a joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Army, and paramilitary forces.
The joint team based on inputs about the presence of militants in the areas cordoned off the Chowgam village in Shopian.

As per reports, when the team reached the targetted area, the militants opened fire and tried to break the security cordon.
The team said that during the retaliation, two “terrorists” were killed.
Both the militants were said to be associated with the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Hours later, two more were killed in a gunfight in Tral near the Hardumir village. The security forces there were inputs of the presence of militants in the village.
The militants hiding in the village had fired at them which led to a gunfight. The end result of the gunfight resulted in the death of two militants.
The police informed that the dead militants were identified as Nadeem Bhat and Rasool alias Adil. These were affiliated to Ansar Ghazwatul Hind (AGH), a local affiliate of Al-Qaeda.
Two AK rifles were recovered from them and among them, Adil was an IED expert.
