At least two teachers of the Udalguri girls’ higher secondary school in Assam have tested positive for COVID-19. 

Both the teachers were confirmed to be infected with the COVID-19 virus on Thursday.

The development was informed to this correspondent by principal of the school – Dilip Kumar Sahariah. 

Sahariah said that the matter has been communicated to the concerned inspector of schools of Udalguri district and the joint director of health services of the district.

Teachers, employees and students of the school will undergo COVID-19 tests on Friday. 

Meanwhile, with growing concerns over spread of Omicron variant of COVID-19, the samples of the positive teachers are expected to be sent for genome sequencing.
