A primary school teacher in Demow in upper Assam’s Sivasagar district allegedly committed suicide after being unable to utilize a mobile application introduced by the state government for tracking teachers’ attendance in schools.
The teacher identified as Kali Prasad Chetia hanged himself from the ceiling in one of the school’s classrooms.
He served as the headmaster of Lakhimi Pathar LP School at Demow.
As per reports, Chetia took the extreme step after he experienced some difficulties with the application.
Assam education department has made the use of the RIIMS App mandatory for the teaching staff of government-run schools.
The app, which is based on artificial intelligence, is used to track the attendance of school instructors.
