Prime Minister Narendra Modi has paid tributes to the departed souls of Wednesdayโ€™s helicopter crash at the Palam airbase in Delhi.ย 

PM Modi has paid tribute to CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife andย 11 other military personnel who were killed in the helicopter crash.ย 

Others who paid respects included defence minister Rajnath Singh, national security advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval and the family members of the deceased.

The mortal remains of chief of defence staff (CDS) Bipin Rawat, his wifeย Madhulika Rawat and 11 other military personnel arrived at Delhi on Thursday evening.ย 

13 out of 14 persons who were onboard the ill-fated helicopter that crashed atย Coonoorย inย Tamilย Nadu on Wednesday lost their lives.ย 

Those deceased included CDS General Bipin Rawat, his wife andย president of the Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA) and 11 other military personnel.ย

All 13 bodies were brought to Delhi in an Indian Air Force (IAF) C-130J Super Hercules transport aircraft fromย Sulur.ย ย

Meanwhile, the Indian Army has stated thatย severity of the crash led to difficulty in positive identification of mortal remains.ย ย ย 

โ€œAll possible measures are being taken for positive identification considering the sensitivities and emotional well-being of the loved ones,โ€ the Indian Army informed.ย ย 

Four bodies, including that of General Rawat, his wife and Brigadier LS Lidder have been positively identifiedย thusย far.ย
