The farmers have decided to suspend their agitation following assurance from the Central government that the cases against them would be withdrawn.ย 

However, the farmersโ€™ leaders have informed that they would resume their agitation if the Centre fails to fulfil the promises.ย 

โ€œWe have decided to suspend our agitation. We will hold a review meeting on January 15, 2022. If the government fail to fulfil its promises, we could resume our agitation,โ€ farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni said.ย 

On the other hand, farmer leader Darshan Pal Singh said: โ€œProtesting farmers will vacate the protest sites on December 11.โ€ย

The farmersโ€™ leaders decided to suspend their agitation after receiving a letter from the Centre,ย promising formation of a committee on MSP and withdrawing cases against them immediately.ย 

Meanwhile, the protesting farmers haveย started to remove tents from the protest site inย Singhuย at Delhi-Haryana border.ย 

In the letter to the farmer, the Centre said informed that the state governments in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have given โ€œin-principleย consentโ€ for dispensation of compensation to the families of the farmers who died in protest.ย 

โ€œAs far as the matter of compensation is concerned, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana governments have given their in-principleย consent,โ€ the letter reads.ย
