A BJP legislator in Assam alleged that he was heckled by a co-passenger on a moving train on Tuesday night near LumdingRailway station.

Terash Gowalla, an MLA from Duliajan constituency in upper Assam, alleged that a passenger misbehaved with him while he was travelling in Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani Express with his wife.

Gowalla was travelling in the coach no A 3 of the train from Guwahati to Dibrugarh.

โ€œI was travelling in the Rajdhani express along with my wife from Guwahati to Dibrugarh. ย A fellow passenger of mine asked me to switch on the lights; accordingly, I switched it on. Again after a few minutes, while I was gazing at my phone screen, the person asked me to switch off the lights. I followed his instructions.

โ€œMy wife was talking over the phone when suddenly the person started to scream and misbehave with us. Though, I objected strongly to his act, the person did not pay any heed and continued to hurl abuse on me,โ€ he said.

On being informed, Gowalla and his wife were shifted to another compartment by the TTE following the incident.

Based on a complaint, the Government Railway Police (GRP) nabbed the passenger at Lumding station.

The passenger has been identified as Ramakanta Roy, a resident of Lumding in Hojai district.
