The Trinamool Congress (TMC), BJP MLA Sudip Roy Barman and TIPRA chairman Pradyot Debbarman have claimed that violence erupted in different parts of Tripura during polling for the civic bodies in the state.

The Tripura Trinamool Congress (TMC) has claimed that the “goons of the BJP” are resorting to violence by beating up voters and candidates of other parties during polling.

“Voters are being beaten. Tripura BJP has now started assaulting the voters. Can we call this democracy? Can we call this free and fair elections?” the TMC questioned.

It added: “The Presiding officer and the booth agent of Tripura BJP are denying our agents to enter the polling stations. The returning officer, despite being informed, is yet to send any forces. Appalling situation!”
