Sources said the incident took place when DFO Chaudhury went to the area to inspect a proposed power line work coming from Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh to Lakhimpur through Ranga Reserve forest.

The DFO saw an illegal construction of a road by the people from Arunachal inside the Ranga Reserve and he ordered to halt the work, said a police official.

While returning from inspecting the power line site he was manhandled by an unruly crowd from the Arunachal Pradesh side.
