Latvian Ambassador to India Artis Bertulis on Monday inaugurated a four-day intensive workshop on choir conducting and voice at Mountain Academy Dimapur in Nagaland.
The workshop is being organised by the Task Force for Music and Arts Nagaland and the Latvian Embassy.
Addressing the programme, Bertulis said ‘small Lativia’ wanted to help ‘small Nagaland’ in building the bridge of friendship of love for music. He made a comparison of Latvia with Nagaland, both of who have two million populations each. Only difference is that the geographical area of Lativia is four times than that of Nagaland, he added.
“We aim to locate every talented youth wherever they are at an early stage to support and give them best possible education,” Bertulis said.

Metha thanked him for being friends of the Naga people. He said Bertulis’s presence will motivate the Naga people to reach their dreams.
Metha also lauded Bertulis for helping and showing solidarity with the Naga people.
Bertulis was accompanied by his wife Esmeralda Bertule, a musician herself, and resource persons of the workshop Prof Gints Ceplenieks, Prof Egils Jakobsons and Prof Inita Kamarute.
The different activities to be taken up during the workshop include master classes, techniques, individual lessons, live performances, live choir sessions, etc.
