Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh inaugurated the Marjing Polo Complex in Heingang, Imphal East on Sunday.

Dr Sapam Ranjan Singh, Chairman, Tourism Corporation of Manipur Ltd., MLAs and officials of the State Government also attended the program.

Speaking on the occasion he said that the government is committed to execute every promise made so far and would not make any false promises to the people of the State.

Mentioning that the game of ‘Modern Polo’ originated from Manipur, Chief Minister said a 120-ft high statue of a pony would be erected at the top of the Marjing Hill under the integrated Mega Tourist Circuit.

He said politicians have a duty to provide quality life to the citizens of the State. We should not do politics which would hamper the developmental process in the State. He continued that the reason for  underdevelopment of Manipur was the non-transparency in the governance system in the state.

A ropeway would be constructed from Marjing Hills to Langol Hills. A Polo ground would be constructed at the hillock of Marjing, he added. He mentioned that a sum of Rs 15 crores has already been sanctioned for the construction of ‘Imphal View’ tower at Langol Hills. Cable car service would be made available from Marjing Hill to Kangla to attract more tourists in the region. Such initiatives of the new government would provide employment opportunities for youths of the State, he added.

He stressed the new government has given priority to improve lives of the people of the State by initiating schemes such CMHT, CMST etc. He mentioned that within a short period, the new government has minimized the hill-valley divide and ethnic tension in the State. Law and order situation of the State has improved drastically in the last one year. Thus we are heading towards a better Manipur, he added.
