The Dispur Supermarket flyover in Guwahati was opened for road traffic on Thursday morning.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated the 1.21 km-long T-shaped flyover on GS Road at Dispur in the city.
The new Rs 127-crore double-lane flyover will connect Dispur to Six Mile and Supermarket to Last Gate in the city.
Chief minister Sarma said the flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic snarls in the area.
“The completion of the work in 22 months against scheduled 36 months reflects our government’s utmost effort to speed up infrastructure growth,” he said.

According to the project estimate, the construction of the flyover was to be completed in December 2022.
“I am very happy that on the occasion of Diwali we could make the flyover operational and is now open for the public. The new bridge will make hassle-free traffic movement for the general public. And I also request everyone not to spit on the newly constructed bridge,” Sarma added.
The flyover will start in front of Janata Bhavan at Dispur and end at the Down Town police point.
On the other hand, the right-side bifurcation will start from the Dispur Supermarket junction to terminate before the traffic roundabout (Golchakkar) at Last Gate.
