Assam recorded an overall 73.38% voter turnout on Saturday as 5 Assembly constituencies in the state went to bypolls on the day, according to the latest update.
Polling started at 7 am on Saturday in Assam’s 5 Assembly seats including Mariani, Bhabanipur, Thowra, Gossaigaon and Tamulpur.
According to the latest update, the Bhabanipur Assembly constituency recorded the highest voter turnout at 78%%.
The Tamulpur constituency in Assam recorded the lowest voter turnout at 67.88%.
Mariani Assembly constituency recorded voter turnout at 69.81% while Thowra constituency recorded 75.07% voter turnout, according to the data released at 8:08 pm on Saturday by the Secretariat of the Election Commission of India (ECI),
Assam recorded a total of 69.60% voter turnout till 5 pm.
Polling started at 7 am on Saturday in Assam’s 5 Assembly seats including Mariani, Bhabanipur, Thowra, Gossaigaon and Tamulpur.
Till 5 pm, the Gossaigaon constituency in Assam recorded the highest voter turnout at 76.71%.
Mariani Assembly constituency recorded the lowest voter turnout at 61.62% till 5 pm.

According to the data released at 5:24 pm on Saturday by the Secretariat of the Election Commission of India (ECI), after the end of the first round of polling at 9 am, the overall voter turnout was 12.7%.
At the end of the second round of polling at 11 am, the overall voter turnout was 31.44%.

At the end of the third round of polling at 1 pm, the overall voter turnout was 51.65 % and at the end of the fourth round of polling, the voter turnout was 64.58%.
The by-polls in Gossaigaon and Tamulpur were necessitated due to the death of the sitting MLAs while the bypoll in Bhabanipur, Mariani and Thowra was necessitated as the sitting MLAs resigned from their seats to join the ruling BJP.
The Gossaigaon assembly seat was won by the Bodo People”s Front (BPF) in the March-April Assembly election while the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) bagged the Tamulpur seat.

Mariani and Thowra had Congress MLAs while Bhabanipur was won by All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF).
