Tripura Congress, on Thursday, staged a “Gana Dharna” (mass protest) in Agartala over recent attacks on minorities in the state.

Tripura Congress staged protest at the Congress Bhawan in Agartala demanding action against perpetrators of the violence.

Earlier, Tripura Congress chief Birajit Sinha came down heavily on the BJP government in the state over the recent attacks on minorities in the state.

“Wherever BJP leads, law & order fails,” Tripura Congress chief Birajit Sinha said.

Demanding action against the perpetrators of the “brutal attacks” on minority community in Tripura, Birajit Sinha demanded the state government to rehabilitate the displaced minority families, whose houses were burnt down by activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad during a rally at Panisagar in North Tripura district on Tuesday.

“We strongly condemn the brutal attacks on the minorities in Tripura. The government must take necessary steps to book the culprits and rehabilitate the victim families,” the Tripura Congress chief said.

“Over the past one week, several BJP allied organisations have been staging demonstrations against the recent attacks on Hindu minority community in Bangladesh. There is no issue with staging protest of any kind. But attacking minorities in Tripura as a retaliation to what happened in Bangladesh is not acceptable,” Tripura Congress chief Birajit Sinha said.
