Demanding action against the perpetrators of the “brutal attacks” on minority community in Tripura, Birajit Sinha demanded the state government to rehabilitate the displaced minority families, whose houses were burnt down by activists of Vishwa Hindu Parishad during a rally at Panisagar in North Tripura district on Tuesday.

“We strongly condemn the brutal attacks on the minorities in Tripura. The government must take necessary steps to book the culprits and rehabilitate the victim families,” the Tripura Congress chief said.

“Over the past one week, several BJP allied organisations have been staging demonstrations against the recent attacks on Hindu minority community in Bangladesh. There is no issue with staging protest of any kind. But attacking minorities in Tripura as a retaliation to what happened in Bangladesh is not acceptable,” Tripura Congress chief Birajit Sinha said.

Notably, a mosque was reportedly vandalised at Panisagar sub-division in North Tripura district during rally taken out by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Tuesday.

Moreover, at least two shops and three houses were also set on fire during a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally.

The VHP took out the rally to protest against the recent attacks and violence against Hindus in Bangladesh.
