In a major operation against anti-national activities, the Serchhip Battalion of HQ 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) recovered a huge cache of ammunition and war-like stores on Saturday.
The operation was carried out near Tiau Kai village of Mizoram’s Champhai district based on specific information.
“An operation was launched by Assam Rifles personnel from Champhai post of Serchhip Battalion along with village council representatives from Tiau Kai village of Champhai district on October 23, 2021,” the HQ IGAR (East) said in a statement.

“The team had specific information of the presence of a cache in the jungle near Tiau Kai village. The Assam Rifles team along with village council representatives of Tiau Kai carried out a detailed search near the village and recovered a huge cache of ammunition and other war-like stores,” the statement.
The use of such war-like stores “could have endangered the lives of innocent people” and led to various illegal activities, the Assam Rifles said.
“This recovery has prevented the loss of precious lives. The recoveries made were 100 live rounds, 38 numbers of Neogel Gelatin and 251 numbers of detonators,” it added.
“Assam Rifles ‘Friends of the Hill People’ over the years in a force reckoned to fight the anti-national activities,” the HQ IGAR (East) stated.
“This operation is a huge setback for all anti-national activists. The operation’s success would go a long way in establishment of peace and harmony along the Indo-Myanmar border,” it further said.
