Assam Police has arrested five Myanmar nationals from Lailapur in south Assam’s Cachar district for allegedly traveling in the country illegally.
The arrested persons have been identified as Thang Khawm Pau, 21, Khen Khan Kham, 19, Pau Hawmliam Mung, 23, Cin Aih Mang, 23 and Pau Biak Muang, 19.
Police said the Myanmar nationals were arrested while they were heading towards Delhi via Mizoram.
The Myanmar nationals were arrested under section 468(forgery) of IPC, relevant sections of Foreigners Act, 1946, Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920 and Passport (Entry into India) Rules 1950.
Currently, they are being interrogated at the Dholai police station.
