Geological Survey of India (GSI), the 171-year-old premier geo-scientific research organisation has started a crèche for kids to help the women employees working in its Shillong office of Northeastern region.

“This facility is for women who come from far-flanged regions,” said a GSI statement.

The crèche will help the employees, especially the women employees, whose kids can be taken care of at the crèche so that they can concentrate fully on their office work, it added.

The crèche was inaugurated by Dr. J. Rajeshwar, DDG and head of department on Monday.

While delivering his inaugural speech, Dr. Rajeshwar said, “This initiative has been taken in compliance with the welfare measures taken by Government of India, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.”

Its main functions relate to creating and updating national geoscientific information and mineral resource assessment.
