The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Wednesday demanded the implementation of ‘political solution’ of the Naga issue for Nagaland.

Nagaland Congress president Therie pointed out that the Framework Agreement with the NSCN (IM) was signed at the official residence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 3, 2015, and the Agreed Position with the seven Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) on November 17, 2017.
The NPCC demanded finalisation of details and implementation of the solution for Nagaland as the talks are over for the state.
It also made the demand on the ground that Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the parties in alliance with the government had repeatedly promised in every election to pave the way if an acceptable and honourable solution is found and all the stakeholders in the state had accepted the agreed points between the Government of India and the seven NNPGs.

Therie said the PM had announced that the Naga problem has been resolved while former Nagaland Governor RN Ravi declared in the state Assembly that the talks were over for Nagaland.
He added that in reference to the August 3, 2015, agreement, the 213 Report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Home Affairs clarified that the settlement will be within the Union of India, the inter-state boundaries will not be altered and recommended for generous economic package.
The Pradesh Congress chief also stated former interlocutor RN Ravi concluded negotiations with all the Naga factions on September 30, 2019, and held consultations with the stakeholders represented by all the 14 tribal hohos (bodies) in Nagaland and All Gaon Buras Federation of Nagaland.
All the political parties and prominent civil societies in the state had endorsed in principle for implementation of the agreed points, he added.
However, Therie said the Nagaland CM, on August 3 this year, made a statement in the Assembly that the government had not rejected the demands of NSCN (IM) for a separate flag, constitution and integration of Naga areas, which will be pursued post-agreement, rendering all the proceedings meaningless.
In view of the CM’s statement, all the 60 members of the state Assembly resolved to demand to resume the talks, he stated.
According to Therie, “Since the last paragraph of the Framework Agreement of 3rd August 2015 assured to work out details of execution plan to implement shortly, six years lapse cannot be said shortly.”
