Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio launched the Elder Line – 14567 Nagaland in Kohima on Tuesday to facilitate happy and healthy ageing by serving the senior citizens compassionately.

“Happy to launch Elder Line – 14567 Nagaland which will attend to complaints and grievances of the senior citizens. I congratulate Good Samaritan Women Society for implementing it. Let us help and care for the senior citizens in our state,” Rio tweeted.

He expressed hope that the project will benefit the senior citizen and also enable them to get the required information and assistance both from the state and the Centre.

During the launch programme, Social Welfare department director Michael Zaren said Nagaland has two lakh, senior citizens, out of which 51,750 are availing the Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme in the age group of 60 to 79 and 5,650 above 80 years are receiving the pension.

Zaren added that 5,970 elderly people are receiving pensions under the state non-plan.
