A 17-year-old girl and her 21-year-old boyfriend allegedly killed one of her female relatives to death in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district.
The duo murdered the girl as they felt that the victim was causing damage to their image by talking about their affair on social occasions.
According to reports, Bhumi Dhandhikiya, a resident of Bhavnagar’s Chitra locality, had gone missing on September 16.
A complaint of Dhandhikiya’s abduction was lodged at the Vartej police station on September 19. On September 23, her decomposed body was found near a lake in Thordi village.
Inquiries led the police to zero in on a 17-year-old girl — who was Dhandhikiya’s relative — and the teenager’s boyfriend Kartik Dungraniya.
During interrogation, they confessed to having murdered Dhandhikiya, Times of India reported.
Police said Dhandhikiya went to Thordi for attending a social function. The accused couple took her near the lake and killed her by strangling and stabbing her.
The body, lying at an isolated spot, went unnoticed as there was heavy rain.
