After the major boat accident in the Brahmaputra near Nimati Ghat in Jorhat district, the Majuli Chapori Foundation has invited people to discuss issues on the Majuli river island.
The interactive programme, initiated by the Majuli Chapori Foundation, will begin at 5 pm on Monday.
The programme will be held in front of Cotton University in Guwahati.
The issue of delay in the construction of a river on the Brahmaputra linking the Majuli district with Lakhimpur district and Jorhat district is likely to take prominence during the interactive programme.
There has been a debate over the need for a bridge over the Brahmaputra linking Majuli island with other parts of the state.

It has been alleged that many of the Satradhikars are not in favour of the construction of a bridge linking the river island fearing that it would destroy the uniqueness of the cultures and traditions of the island.
However, the boat mishap near Nimati Ghat, which claimed the lives of some of the passengers of the boat after it capsized following a collision with a ship, has prompted the Assam government to announce its plan to start the construction of the bridge.

The foundation stone for the bridge was laid twice, but there was no progress in the construction of the Majuli bridge.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the construction of the bridge will start on November 2, 2021.
This Assam CM made the announcement just a day after the boat accident.

The mishap took place at around 4 pm when the boat, named Maa Kamala, collided with a ship, named Tipkai in the mighty Brahmaputra on September 8, 2021.
Parimita Das, a 28-year-old teacher at a college in Majuli, succumbed to her injuries at Jorhat Medical College Hospital following the mishap.
The body of the second victim, Indreshwar Bora, a teacher of Rajgarh High School, was recovered from Kaziranga.
Jorhat Police has arrested six persons in connection with the boat mishap in the Brahmaputra river near Nimati Ghat.
One ferry passenger, identified as DR Bikramjit Kakati, a doctor in a hospital in Majuli, is still missing.
