Around four lakh illegal consignment of Bangladeshi oral contraceptive pills have been seized in western Assamโ€™s Dhubri district.

Dhubri police on Saturday arrested one person in connection with the seizure.

The pillsโ€“โ€œSukhiโ€โ€“ are reportedly smuggled through the Indo-Bangla border along Assam, said police.

The smuggled pills are sold in the interiors of the minority-dominated Dhubri district, close to the Bangladesh border, and also nearbyโ€”South Salamara and Korajhar districts in lower Assam.

Police said the consignment was recovered from the residence of one Samsul Haque.

Samsul allegedly was running the trade with some suppliers from across the border.

Police have nabbed a relative of Samsul for questioning.
