Assam Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Sushmita Dev along with senior party leader Bratya Basu will arrive at Agartala in Tripura on Wednesday.

According to reports, Sushmita Dev will be given the charge of Tripura apart from Assam.

“…looking forward to working together with Tripura TMC to strengthen the party under the leadership of Mamata Banerjee,” said Assam TMC leader Sushmita Dev.

Visit of TMC leaders Sushmita Dev and Bratya Basu comes just a day after Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb expanded his cabinet by inducting three new ministers.

The three new faces in the expanded Tripura cabinet are – Ram Prasad Paul, Sushanta Chowdhury, Bhagaban Chandra Das.

This is the first cabinet expansion after the BJP–IPFT alliance assumed office in March 2018 after defeating the Left parties in the Assembly polls.

There has been resentment by a section of the ruling BJP MLAs and leaders in Tripura.

The Cabinet expansion took place on Tuesday afternoon, even as the dissident MLAs and BJP leaders boycotted the swearing-in-ceremony.
