Nandita Saikia, the college girl from Lakhimpur district in Assam, who sustained grievous injuries in a machete attack, has succumbed to her injuries.
Nandita was undergoing treatment at the Brahmaputra Diagnostic and Hospital in Dibrugarh, Assam.
Nandita Saikia was attacked with a machete, on Saturday, by Rintu Sarma in Dhemaji district of Assam.
Nandita hailed from Naba Kathbari village in Dhakuakhana. She was a BA third-semester student of Maridhal College in Dhemaji.

Nandita was killed by Rintu Sharma with a machete for rejecting his marriage proposal.
According to police, Nandita was attacked by Rintu Sarma with a machete, while she was with her classmate Kashmira Dutta and her father Deba Dutta at the Dhemaji bus stand.
“The three of them were immediately admitted to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital for treatment. Later, Nandita Saikia was shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh, then to Brahmaputra Hospital,” police said.
Meanwhile, police have arrested Rintu Sarma.
Rintu Sarma is an employee at the Maridhal College in Dhemaji, where the victim was a student.
