An active rebel of the PLA (People’s Liberation Army) – an insurgent outfit from Manipur – has been apprehended by security forces. 

The PLA cadre has been apprehended by the troopers of the Assam Rifles from Tengnoupal district of Manipur. 

The PLA rebel was apprehended by the Tengnoupal Battalion of the Assam Rifles “in an intelligence-based operation”. 

Later, the PLA rebel was reportedly handed over to the local police for further investigation.

Earlier this month, at least six cadres of the dreaded Manipur-based insurgent outfit – People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were killed due to internal clashes in Myanmar. 

Highly placed sources had informed that the clashes broke out at the Nayang Wakathan camp of the NSCN-KYA in Myanmar, which is located opposite the Pangsau Pass in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. 

According to sources, the Myanmar junta has been pressurising the militant outfits from Northeast, including the PLA from Manipur, to join its offensive against armed groups that have been opposing military regime in the Country. 

This has led to frustration among the militant outfits from the Northeast, with many mulling to shun violence and return to mainstream.
