Hours after quitting the party, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Piyush Biswas on Saturday withdrew his resignation letter.
In a Facebook post, the Tripura Congress president blamed the lack of support from party leaders in the state for the reason for quitting the party.
He also announced that he would no longer remain in active politics.
Biswas in a Facebook post on Saturday wrote: “With sincere gratitude I thank all Congress Leaders, supporters for your cooperation during my tenure as TPCC President (acting). Today I have resigned from the post of President and retired from politics as well.”
He further wrote: “My sincere gratitude towards Hon’ble Congress President Smt. Sonia Gandhi and Shri Rahul Gandhiji for their support. I am returning to my profession. Jai Hind!!”
But later in the day, Biswas said the party in-charge for Tripura spoke with him and assured that he would meet Biswas and solve all the issues he was facing in the state.
“If he solves these issues, I don’t have any problem,” Biswas said.
Biswas made the announcement days after All India Mahila Congress president and former Silchar MP Sushmita Dev quit the party and joined the Trinamool Congress.
Biswas alleged that a section of Congress leaders in Agartala tried to disrupt his political endeavours and declined to cooperate with him.
