Tizit additional deputy commissioner Pakon Phom has clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC in Tizit subdivision under Mon district of Nagland from 6 am on Thursday.
In an order on Thursday, Phom said a land dispute between Jaboka and Yannu village over Konhoa area occurred on Wednesday resulting in damage to paddy fields, burning of shacks, huts and cutting down of plantation, crops and trees.

The order said there are sufficient grounds for promulgation of the prohibitory order for maintaining public safety, peace and tranquility in the sub-division.
As per the order, gathering of more than five persons in public or private places, movement of public and vehicular movement of non-essential nature, including passenger vehicles, have been prohibited till further order.

However, district administration, police, paramilitary forces, magistrate on duty, doctors and medical staff and persons engaged in emergency services have been exempted. All movement of essential commodities have also been exempted.
Violation of the order will be liable for punishment under Section 188 of the IPC, the order said.
According to reports, a group of around 500 to 600 people from nearby villages reportedly attacked Yannu village early Wednesday morning and destroyed plantations and field huts. There was no report of any casualty.
