Troopers of Assam Rifles and officials of the Customs department have seized heroin in Mizoram along the Indo-Myanmar border.
Acting on a tip-off, troopers of Assam Rifles and officials of Customs department recovered over 119 grams of heroin at Zokhawthar town on the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Monday, an official of Assam Rifles said on Tuesday.
The contraband worth Rs 47.84 lakh was believed to be smuggled from Myanmar, he said.
In another joint operation, Assam Rifles and Customs department also seized 52 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes at Chhungte village in Champhai district bordering Myanmar on Tuesday, the official said.
The smuggled goods worth Rs. 1 crore were handed over to Custom Preventive Force in Champhai for a further legal proceeding, he added.
