“Myanmarese Army are demanding money and pressurising Northeast militant outfits to join them in dealing with the PDF (People’s Defence Force) and other groups against military junta,” sources claimed.

This has led to frustration among the militant outfits from the Northeast, with many mulling to shun violence and return to mainstream.

The People’s Defence Force (PDF) is the armed wing of the National Unity Government (NUG), a body claiming to be the legitimate government of Myanmar.

Despite having massive support from the people of Myanmar, the military junta designated the PDF as a terrorist organisation on May 8.

Notably, the six to eight cadres of the Manipur-based insurgent outfit PLA, who were killed in internal clashes recently near the India-Myanmar border were also mulling to surrender.

Sources informed this correspondent that the PLA militants who were killed in the internal clashes were also highly frustrated with the demands of the Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) and planned to return to mainstream.
