In an exclusive interview to this correspondent, the Sivasagar legislator said: “I may not continue as MLA for much long as I feel I am not in the right place. I may resign anytime.”

“I am being tied to many rules and regulations, forbidding me from taking steps against many communal and anti-people propaganda. This is becoming very frustrating for me to continue as MLA,” Akhil Gogoi said.

Gogoi further alleged that the Centre, the Assam Government and the NIA are working together to again arrest him.

“A conspiracy is brewing against me to arrest me once again. The efforts to arrest me are being taken jointly by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) or the union home minister, Assam chief minister and the NIA,” alleged Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi.

Speaking on the anti-CAA protests that rocked Assam in 2019-2020, Akhil Gogoi said that the State Government tamed the agitation.

He further compared the anti-CAA protests in Assam with the historic French Revolution.

“The Assam Government tamed or destroyed the anti-CAA agitation by arresting me and sidelining the KMSS, and implementing other tactics and shifted the protests from streets to playgrounds,” said Akhil Gogoi.

“Me, KMSS and the Raijor Dal will never let CAA be implemented in Assam,” said Akhil Gogoi.

Further launching an all-out attack on Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Akhil Gogoi said that the people of the state are not safe and secure under his regime.

“The Assam CM has been spreading communal hatred among different sections of the society in the State. This is very unbecoming of a chief minister. We don’t want an immature and nonsensical CM,” Akhil Gogoi said.
