Helping Hands, a pan-India NGO, has constituted a committee to assist in sending back home mortal remains of those people from the Northeast, who die in the big urban cities across the country. 

The committee has been named – ‘Last Journey Committee’.

Helping Hands is an NGO that works for the people from the Northeast who are in distress across India. 

Speaking to Northeast Now, on the constitution of the committee, president of Helping Hands NGO – Robin Hibu said: “The mortal remains transportation is only for lowly people from the Northeast, who are engaged in private unorganised, private companies, maids, MTS, guards, sale girls/boys, unemployed strugglers and poor students in cities.”

Robin Hibu is also the Special Commissioner of Delhi Police and is the go-to man for all Northeasterners in the National Capital. 

Hibu said: “Last Journey Committee from 8 Northeast States has been formed for assisting the mortal remains transportation back home in their respective states from across cities in India.” 

“It’s the least that we can do for our dead people, who die in cities far away from home and loved ones,” Hibu added.
