Mumbai Police has arrested actor Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra in a case related to pornographic films.
A media report quoted Mumbai Police as saying that they arrested Kundra on Monday “as he appears to be the key conspirator of this” case.
The police claimed they have “sufficient evidence” against Raj Kundra, who is a businessman.
“Further investigations are in progress,” police said.
A case was registered with the Crime Branch of Mumbai Police in February this year. The case was related to creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps.
“There was a case registered with the Crime Branch Mumbai in Feb 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some Apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this,” said a statement issued by the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
In 2013, Raj Kundra was questioned by the Delhi Police in connection with the betting and spot-fixing scandal that engulfed Indian cricket.
However, Raj Kundra has denied the allegation and claimed he is not involved in any wrongdoing.
Raj Kundra, who is the owner of an app called JL Stream, was a co-owner of Indian Premier League cricket team Rajasthan Royals, has sought anticipatory bail in the case.
Shilpa Shetty tied the knot with Raj Kundra in 2009.
They have a 9-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter.
