Anurag Tankha

Senior Indian Police Service(IPS) officer Anurag Tankha passed away on Monday. He was 51.

Tankha, a 1995 batch IPS officer to Assam-Meghalaya cadre, was on deputation to the Bureau of Police Research and Development as Inspector General (IG).

The senior police officer passed away in a hospital in Delhi after a prolonged battle with cancer.

Tankha was posted as IGP, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Branch of Assam Police before going to Delhi on deputation to join BPRD.

Born in 1970, Tankha was an alumnus of IIT Delhi.

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has condoled the untimely demise of Tangkha.

“I’m deeply saddened by the demise of distinguished senior IPS officer Anurag Tankha (Assam cadre) after a prolonged battle with cancer. He was on deputation to the Bureau of Police Research and Development as IG. My prayers for his moksha and condolences to his family members,” Sarma said in a tweet.
