The Assam government has decided that in all government offices in the state, the photographs of the President, Prime Minister and Assam’s first chief minister Gopinath Bordoloi will be displayed.

It was decided in a cabinet meeting at Dispur on Tuesday, which was chaired by chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The Cabinet further decided to allot 35 bighas of additional land for the smooth implementation of the Batadrava Than Cultural and Tourism Project in Central Assam’s Nagaon district.

Assam cultural minister Bimal Bora will visit and review the status of the project every month.

The Cabinet approved the simplification of flood damage assessment and repairing of infrastructure.

The district magistrates have been authorized to take necessary action in this regard within the timeframe of April 1 to October 31.

In order to eliminate overloading by coal-laden trucks passing through Assam, the Cabinet decided to check their weights at two inter-state border gates.

With a view to utilizing 77,000 bighas of government land freed from encroachers at Gorukhuti, Sipajhar in Darrang district for agricultural purposes, a committee is formed under the chairmanship of MLA Padma Hazarika.

MP Dilip Saikia, MLAs Mrinal Saikia and Paramananda Rajbangshi will be other members of the committee while Secretary and Director Agriculture Vinod Seshan will act as Member Secretary.

In order to eliminate overloading by coal trucks passing through Assam, the Cabinet decided to check the weights of trucks at Digharkhal and Srirampur inter-state border gates.

This practice will continue on a pilot basis till March 31.

The chief minister, finance minister, and transport minister will monitor the whole process.
