Mizoram’s COVID-19 scenario continues to be grim.  

The state has reported 228 new cases, which took the total cases tally to 12,859.  

Meanwhile, Mizoram has reported one more COVID-19 fatality.  

This new death case has pushed the State’s COVID-19 death toll up to 45.

A female senior citizen from Aizawl aged 92 died of the infection on Wednesday night, which took the death toll to 45.

The woman succumbed to the virus at the Zoram Medical College. 

The new 228 cases were detected after conducting tests of 3,267 samples.  

The new 228 cases were detected in Mizoram at a positivity rate of 6.97%, state information and public relations department said in a statement.

Of the 228 new cases, 23 were detected through RT-PCR tests at the Zoram Medical College near Aizawl, 184 through Rapid Antigen Test and 21 via TrueNat tests.  

With the detection of 228 new cases, Mizoram’s active cases tally has shot up to 3320. 

Aizawl has the highest number of active cases of the State – 2380.  

Meanwhile, 9494 people in Mizoram so far have also recovered from the deadly disease.
