Darrang Police busted a criminal racket involved in gun-making and other criminal activities.

The police apprehended two members of the notorious racket during the operation carried out on Saturday night.

Acting on a tip off and following instructions from Darrang superintendent of police, Sushanta Biswa Sarma, a team of police carried out operations in the house of one Moin Ali at Bagarmari village.

During the operation, the police was able to seize five country-made rifles, eight pairs of military camouflage and one pair of police uniform.

In this connection, 36-year-old Sahar Ali of Bandiya village under Mangaldai police station and 35-year-old Harunul Rashid of Dhansiri Kash village have been nabbed, said Darrang deputy superintendent of police Mamoni Hazarika.

However, the prime accused, the owner of the house, Moin Ali, managed to escape.

Police have registered a case in Mangaldai police station and started further investigation.
